Since 1555, the Citadelle de Givet has occupied a strategic position in the heart of Europe. Initially at the defence of the empire of Charles Quint, it was then coveted and laid siege to by all the great men of Europe and, until 1914, it never succumbed.

Today, it’s the tourists who assault the citadel, a favoured witness to History. Explore it in the open air, on pedestrian paths, walking along the kilometres of galleries managed throughout the centuries for the citadel’s defence.

The eastern point of Charlemont. Without doubt the most spectacular part of the Citadel. During your 1.5 hour guided tour, you will see 450 years of history transformed into stone and architecture unfolding before your eyes.
